VCP6-CMA Objective 1.1

Objective 1.1: Explain vRealize Suite Editions and Features

Overview
vRealize Automation is a key component in VMware's Software Defined Data Center (SDDC) architecture by providing a suite of products that help provide agility and efficiency through the use of automation. vRA stiches together various tools into a single workflow that allows administrators to provide users with a self-service offering that can take service provisioning (VM creation, user account creation, etc.) from days or weeks to minutes.

Licensing
vRealize Suite components can be purchased individually as part of one of the suites.

  • Per CPU for Private Clouds
  • Per virtual machine instance for public cloud or physical workloads

Determine available features and third party integrations for different vRealize Suite editions

vRealize Operations Manager (vROps)
vRealize Operations Manager collects operational metrics from the virtual environment that provide administrators with actionable intelligence for issue resolution, performance optimization and capacity planning. vROps provides real-time analytics about the health and state of your virtual infrastructure. vRO is included in all versions of the vRealize Suite.

vRealize Log Insight
vRealize Log Insight provides real time log management and log analysis. vRealize Log Insight is included in all versions of the vRealize Suite.

vRealize Business
vRealize Business provides insight into the financial aspects of a cloud infrastructure. vRealize Business is included in all versions of the vRealize Suite.

vRealize Automation: Infrastructure Automation
vRealize Automation: Infrastructure Automation allows administrators to dynamically provision workloads on physical, virtual and cloud infrastructures. There are two editions of vRealize Automation: Infrastructure Automation, an advanced edition and an enterprise edition with each one respectively included in the Advanced and Enterprise editions of the vRealize Suite.

vRealize Automation: Application Automation
vRealize Automation: Application Automation provides lifecycle management of application stacks. It is included in the enterprise edition of the vRealize Suite.

vRealize Operations: Application Monitoring (Hyperic)
vRealize Operations: Application Monitoring provides application level monitoring to provide insight into application peformance. It is included in the enterprise edition of the vRealize Suite.

Differentiate vCloud Air solutions

VMware vCloud Air is a VMware hosting service provided by VMware that offers seamless workload migration to the cloud and offers a unified management paradigm through the use of the vSphere plug-in to provide a single interface for both on-prem and cloud workloads.

Dedicated Cloud
A single-tenant phsically isolated IaaS service that offers the advantages of guaranteed performance.
